This guide explains how to purchase, install and configure Local Trade Copier EA MT4/5© for copying trades between MetaTrader accounts on the same Windows computer or Windows VPS.
You can use Local Trade Copier EA for MT4 → MT4, MT5 → MT5 and, when both versions are installed, MT4 ↔ MT5 trade copying.
The basic setup consists of one MetaTrader account acting as the Transmitter and another acting as the Receiver. Once connected, you can configure each Receiver independently for lot sizing, trade selection, symbol handling, risk management and account protection.
If you need help with your setup, contact us through the official MQL5 developer profile or by company email.

For a basic setup you need two MetaTrader terminals running on the same Windows computer or Windows VPS:
Terminal 1 = Transmitter account — the account you copy trades from.
Terminal 2 = Receiver account — the account you copy trades to.
Then:
1. Purchase Local Trade Copier EA MT4© or Local Trade Copier EA MT5© from the MQL5 Market.
2. Install the appropriate EA through your MQL5 account in both MetaTrader terminals.
3. Attach Local Trade Copier EA to one chart in each terminal.
4. Set the first account as Transmitter.
5. Set the second account as Receiver and enter the Transmitter Account Number.
6. Enable Auto Trading / Algo Trading and open a small test trade on the Transmitter.
If the corresponding trade appears on the Receiver, your basic trade-copying setup is complete.
MT4 → MT4: Local Trade Copier EA MT4©
MT5 → MT5: Local Trade Copier EA MT5©
MT4 → MT5: Local Trade Copier EA MT4© + Local Trade Copier EA MT5©
MT5 → MT4: Local Trade Copier EA MT5© + Local Trade Copier EA MT4©
If your trade-copying setup contains both MT4 and MT5 terminals, you need both versions.
Log in to your MQL5.com account and open the appropriate Local Trade Copier EA product page:
Local Trade Copier EA MT4© – MQL5 Market
Local Trade Copier EA MT5© – MQL5 Market
Click Buy and complete your purchase.
After the purchase is complete, open the MetaTrader terminal where you want to install the EA.
In MetaTrader go to:
Tools → Options → Community
Log in with the same MQL5 account that you used to purchase Local Trade Copier EA.
Important: Log in using your MQL5 account login/username, not your email address.
Then find your purchased product.
Go to:
Terminal → Market → Purchased
Find Local Trade Copier EA MT4© and click Install.
Go to:
Navigator → Market → Purchases
Find Local Trade Copier EA MT5© and click Install.
Repeat the procedure in every MetaTrader terminal that you want to use for trade copying.
Important: MQL5 Market purchases must be installed through your MQL5 account in each terminal. Copying and pasting the purchased EX4/EX5 file between terminals will not work.
For a basic trade copier setup, you need one MetaTrader terminal for the Transmitter account and another for the Receiver account.
Both terminals must run on the same Windows computer or Windows VPS.
If both accounts use the same broker, install a second copy of the broker's MT4 or MT5 terminal and select a different installation folder during installation.
Whenever possible, use the MetaTrader terminal provided by the broker of the trading account you are using.
Open any chart in your Transmitter terminal and attach Local Trade Copier EA MT4/5© from the Navigator window.
Select:
Account Mode: Transmitter
The Transmitter is the account from which the original trading activity will be copied.
Now open any chart in your Receiver terminal and attach Local Trade Copier EA MT4/5©.
Select:
Account Mode: Receiver
Then enter the Transmitter account number in:
Transmitter Account Number
For your first test, select the lot-sizing option you want to use in:
Lot Size Type
Leave the other settings at their default values unless your setup requires something different.
Make sure Auto Trading / Algo Trading is enabled in both terminals.
Local Trade Copier EA MT4/5© connects MetaTrader terminals running on the same Windows computer or Windows VPS.
One account acts as the Transmitter, while one or more accounts act as Receivers.
When a trade is opened, modified or closed on the Transmitter, the corresponding trading action can be synchronized to the Receiver accounts according to the settings configured for each Receiver.
Each Receiver can use its own:
Lot sizing
Risk configuration
Trade filters
Symbol configuration
TP/SL management
Trading schedule
Account-protection settings
This means that multiple Receiver accounts can follow the same source trading activity without necessarily using the same financial exposure.
The trading signal can be identical. The financial exposure does not have to be.
MT4/MT5 Trade Copier Quick Setup Video
The Quick Setup Video demonstrates:
Part 1: Quick Simple Setup
Part 2: Setup with Symbols with Suffixes
Part 3: Setup with Special Symbols
Before testing your copier, compare the symbol names used by the Transmitter and Receiver brokers.
If both accounts use exactly the same symbol:
EURUSD → EURUSD
you do not need to configure a symbol suffix.
If the Transmitter uses:
EURUSD+ → EURUSD
enter in the Receiver Local Trade Copier EA settings:
Suffix of the Transmitter Account: +
If the setup is:
EURUSD → EURUSD.r
enter:
Suffix of the Receiver Account: .r
If both accounts use:
EURUSDm → EURUSDm
enter:
Suffix of the Transmitter Account: m
and:
Suffix of the Receiver Account: m
If the corresponding instruments have substantially different names, use the Special Symbol settings.
For example:
US500 → SPX500
enter:
Special Symbol 1: US500,SPX500
This allows the Receiver to associate differently named instruments between the two brokers.
Open a small trade on the Transmitter account.
Check that the corresponding trade appears on the Receiver account.
Then close the original Transmitter trade and confirm that the copied Receiver trade also closes.
If this works, your basic Local Trade Copier EA setup is ready.
You can now configure your preferred:
Lot sizing
Trade filters
Symbol mapping
TP/SL options
Trading times
Risk-management settings
Receiver account protection
For explanations of the available options, see the Local Trade Copier EA MT4/5 Settings & Inputs Guide.
Local Trade Copier EA MT4/5© is not limited to one Transmitter and one Receiver.
A single Transmitter can copy its trading activity to multiple Receiver accounts running on the same Windows computer or Windows VPS.
Install and configure Local Trade Copier EA in each additional Receiver terminal and enter the same Transmitter Account Number.
Each Receiver can then use its own independent configuration for:
Lot sizing and risk
Trade filters
Symbol handling
TP/SL management
Trading times
Account-protection settings
This allows one source account to distribute the same trading activity across multiple MetaTrader accounts while each Receiver maintains its own execution and risk-management configuration.
Before changing advanced settings, check the basic setup first:
1. Is Local Trade Copier EA attached and running in both terminals?
2. Is one EA configured as Transmitter and the other as Receiver?
3. Is the correct Transmitter Account Number entered in the Receiver?
4. Is Auto Trading / Algo Trading enabled?
5. Is the Receiver logged in with its normal trading password rather than an investor/read-only password?
6. Do the Transmitter and Receiver use different symbol names that require suffix configuration or Special Symbol mapping?
7. Is the selected Lot Size Type appropriate for the Receiver account?
8. Are both MetaTrader terminals running normally and receiving current prices?
9. Check the Experts and Journal tabs of the Receiver terminal for messages or errors.
For detailed solutions to common problems, see the MT4/MT5 Trade Copier Troubleshooting Guide.
If copying works but is unusually slow, check the Trade Copier Speed & VPS Optimization Guide.

After installing Local Trade Copier EA MT4/5©, you can optionally configure MetaTrader to send email and push notifications.

Enable email notifications and enter the SMTP details required by your email provider.
You will normally need:
SMTP Server: Your email provider's outgoing SMTP server and port.
SMTP Login: Your full email address.

Email providers can change their SMTP and security requirements. If these settings do not work, check the current instructions provided by your email service.
Many email providers no longer allow applications such as MetaTrader to authenticate using the normal account password.
Your provider may instead require an App Password.
An App Password is a separate password generated specifically for applications such as MetaTrader. Your normal email password remains unchanged.
For Gmail, you normally need 2-Step Verification enabled before creating an App Password.
1. Sign in to your Google Account.
2. Make sure 2-Step Verification is enabled.
3. Open the App Passwords section.
4. Create a new App Password for MetaTrader.
5. Copy the generated App Password.
Then return to:

and enter the required SMTP information using the generated App Password.
Do not enter your normal Gmail password in the SMTP Password field when Google requires an App Password.
After entering your details, click Test in MetaTrader's Email settings.
Then check:
Terminal / Toolbox → Journal
If the test fails, verify:
SMTP server and port
Email address
App Password
Accidental spaces in the copied password
Your provider's current SMTP and security requirements
Once MetaTrader's email test works, Local Trade Copier EA MT4/5© can use MetaTrader's email functionality for the email notifications enabled in the EA.
Push notifications allow Local Trade Copier EA MT4/5© to send notifications from your desktop MetaTrader terminal to the MetaTrader mobile app on your phone or tablet.
In your desktop MT4 or MT5 terminal go to:
Tools → Options → Notifications
Enable push notifications and enter your MetaQuotes ID.
Open the MetaTrader mobile app on your phone or tablet and go to:
Settings → Messages
Your MetaQuotes ID is displayed there.
Enter this ID in:
Desktop MetaTrader → Tools → Options → Notifications
Use the Test button to send a test notification.
If the test notification appears on your phone or tablet, MetaTrader push notifications are configured correctly.
If you enable transaction push notifications inside Local Trade Copier EA MT4/5©, do not also enable MetaTrader's:
Notify of trade transactions
option.
Otherwise, you may receive two notifications for the same trading transaction.
Use either the notification functionality configured through Local Trade Copier EA MT4/5© or MetaTrader's general trade-transaction notification option according to your preference.
